Relax for a minute and enjoy a comical Poem about genealogy research. | This site is a gathering of Medlin Family History from many different places. Some is information I've personally researched in libraries around the country. Much has been provided by you, our viewers. Included are census records, family groups, links to other sites that can assist you with your personal research, and much more.
Much of the information has not been documented by the owner of this site. There may be mistakes, feel free to contact me with corrections or to add more information for our distant cousins. I would like to add information about what kind of furniture they used (pictures would be wonderful!) also, does anyone have any documentation about any ancestor who might have went on a family vacation? What did they eat? How did they preserve food? Do you have a recipe that has been handed down through the generations? What did our ancestors do for fun? What kind of jobs did they work at? Did they have huge glorious weddings or did they have a simple ceremony before a justice of the peace? There are many more questions than we have answers. If you have any information to add to these pages, please contact me. Be sure to check the research links to find links to all new queries and other updates.
Is "your" Medlin on these pages? If not, now is the time to add your ancestors to our growing Medlin Genealogy Center |

Many words and phrases in our language have assorted spellings and/or meanings than when they originated. The same is true with our name. It is not uncommon to find the name spelled phonetically in census
records, land records, even in family bibles. The phonetic spelling varies with the accent of the person who did the writing.
Younger children would be named after earlier ancestors, but the pattern in their case was more varied.
Sometimes the eldest son would be named after the mother's father
Occasionally the second son and daughter
would be named after the father and mother instead of the third son and
daughter. Another variation was to name the
third daughter after one of the great-grandmothers instead of after the mother. In such a case, the fourth daughter would usually be named after the mother.
